DENIM VENOM was born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama, where he worked in hydraulic tube line fabrication
for his father’s company, Allied Connector. At the time, his musical interests included The Misfits and Wu Tang,
Iron Maiden, Scorpions, and Hank Williams, Jr. Then one sweltering day in 1999, he purchased a popsicle from an
ice cream man who was reading an old issue of X-Men. The two talked about comic books and music, which
eventually led to the ice cream man showing DNMVNM the two Technics 1200 turntables he just bought and
introducing him to sound manipulation and sampling. DNMVNM began making music with a Yamaha SU700 and DR-
660 and later transitioned into computer-based sequencers. In 2001, he moved to Brooklyn, where he joined
Xtatika as co-writer and producer of two EPS. He has since, under various monikers, including DENIM VENOM,
DNMVNM, clone, and backmask, produced over fifty tracks and performed throughout New York, the East Coast,
Russia, Japan, and Europe.
